Senior Seal Ecology Support Specialist – Unmanned Surveys

Fisheries Immersed Sciences Hawaii, Inc. (FISH) is a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) skilled in fisheries observation, marine biology, island coastal resource management, scientific research, and innovative technology. As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking to hire a Senior Seal Ecology Support Specialist – Unmanned Surveys, to support an upcoming long-term contract that we are bidding on (This will be a contingent position, based upon contract award). FISH will be operating under FLOAT – A “Fish” and “Lynker” Ocean Alliance Team – a Joint Venture Prime contract holder for NOAA ProTech Fisheries*.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in unmanned aerial surveys. Research activities may include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  1. Contribute to the design and programming of the survey
  2. Maintain drone hardware and software necessary for conducting flights
  3. Serve as pilot or ground support for unmanned survey
  4. File necessary reports for NOAA UAS surveys, such as Federal Policy Checklist, Notice of Intent to Fly, post flight situation reports
  5. Ensure data collected from cameras and other sensors are of sufficient quality to meet survey objectives
  6. Contribute to the survey report, manuscripts and presentations
  7. Provide field activity and analysis summaries required for MMPA research permit.

Requirements & Minimum Experience

  • FAA Part 107 pilot license required.
  • More than 100 hours experience flying NOAA certified fixed or rotary wing UAS.
  • Possesses knowledge of NOAA requirements for unmanned surveys.
