Chemistry Laboratory Technician (Lipid Analysis)
Job Summary
Seeking a motivated Chemistry Laboratory Technician to assist NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC), Integrated Ecosystem Research Program (IERP). This position will provide laboratory support for chemical and lipid analyses of marine samples to support NOAA Fisheries’ ecosystem research priorities.
Responsibilities
Chemistry Laboratory Support
- Extract marine samples for lipid analysis
- Analyze samples for total lipids and lipid classes (TLC-FID)
- Prepare samples for fatty acid analysis
- Analyze fatty acids using gas chromatography (GC-FID)
- Record and enter laboratory data
- Follow established laboratory procedures
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, marine science, or related field
- 0–3+ years of laboratory experience
Preferred Experience
- Experience with chemical extraction methods
- Experience working with laboratory instruments
- Experience organizing and quality-checking data
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work onsite in Newport, OR
- Ability to handle laboratory chemicals safely
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance

$25.00/hr-$45.00/hr
